Guy Norman PhD
MD & Lead Consultant

Guy is an urban water and sanitation specialist. He has extensive experience in research, evaluation and policy support around basic services in slum contexts, notably as Director of Research with Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) 2012-2020. He is the MD and Lead Consultant of Urban Research.

Urban planning

Carsten is a specialist in urban planning, with extensive experience as both technical expert and team lead. He has a particular interest in governance processes and participatory approaches. He has worked widely in Asia, Latin America and MENA, for bilateral agencies and international organisations.

Solid waste

Harrison is a solid waste management expert with over 20 years’ experience. His work focuses on innovative solutions to the design of integrated waste management systems in cities. He is Chair of the Commonwealth Housing Group – Kenya, currently working on slum resettlement in Nairobi.

Economics

Ben is a behavioural economist, currently a research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and WASH Research Lead for World Vision. He is an expert in eliciting individual preferences, econometric modelling, and driving behaviour change at scale through both government and the private sector.

Public health

Sheillah is a researcher in public and environmental health, with over 10 years' experience in the field. She has strong expertise in public health research design, and a particular interest in behaviour change, gender and well-being. She is currently at the African Population and Health Research Center in Nairobi.
